The Commission Welcomes Ms. Mayauda Bowens, Gas Engineer, in the Office of Infrastructure and System Planning
Ms. Mayauda Bowens
Image:Ms. Mayauda Bowens Ms. Mayauda Bowens (pronounced May-yah-duh) joined the Public Service Commission on June 2, 2014 as a Gas Engineer in the Office of Infrastructure and System Planning. Mayauda began her career in Land Development in Williamsburg, VA and transitioned into a Structural Engineering career with Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding (now Huntington Ingalls Industries) in Newport News, VA. Upon leaving Northrop Grumman, she pursued her passion of teaching, serving as a Special Education Math Inclusionist in Williamsburg, VA and a Pre-Engineering Teacher in the TransTech Academy at Francis L Cardozo High School in Washington, D.C. Despite her love of the education field, she transitioned back into engineering, serving as a System Replacement Engineer for the Maryland and Virginia territories at Washington Gas.

Ms. Bowens earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (also known as Virginia Tech). In addition to being a Hokie, she is a graduate of Hampton High School, the oldest public school in the country. Mayauda is a military brat but calls Hampton, VA home.

Ms. Bowens is an avid competitive runner, mother of two, mentor and member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.
